Health Center Facts

United Cerebral Palsy of Suffolk Health Center is committed to ensuring that quality health care services are fully available to individuals with disabilities. With that in mind, UCP Suffolk designed and built a fully accessible Health Center conveniently located at the Kathleen O. Maul Campus on Carleton Avenue in Central Islip.  The UCP Health Center also provides comprehensive medical services at two satellite office locations in Hauppauge and Port Jefferson Station.

UCP Suffolk Health Center, an Article 28 diagnostic and treatment center licensed by the Department of Health is also an Article 16 Clinic licensed by Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.

More than 60% of patients currently receiving service through UCP Suffolk Health Center have a disability other than Cerebral Palsy.

The UCP Suffolk Health Center brings together a team of board certified and/or board eligible physicians, dentists, psychologists, podiatrists, therapists and other health care professionals to address the unique health care needs of each patient, supporting him/her in achieving health and wellness.

The Health Center is designed for individuals with a wide range of abilities and health needs, offering fully accessible primary and specialty medical care, dentistry, gynecology, podiatry, dermatology, mental health, rehabilitative and assistive technology services.

The Health Center building was designed with the input of UCP doctors, therapists, other health professionals, and most importantly, patients and their families.

The Rehabilitation area offers a training ramp and stairs with a 90 ft. indoor track, which provide an ideal setting for ambulation therapy.

Each Dental Suite features a height adjustable, swivel chair that makes patient transfer easier, and a panoramic digital x-ray system, allows full mouth x-rays to be taken at once. Each dental operatory also has adjustable track lighting, digital x-ray capability and fiber optic dental instruments.

Private treatment rooms, a computer assessment lab and a training apartment are also available for therapy sessions.

Each medical room is designed to comfortably accommodate patients who may use mobility aids along with any family member or caregiver.  All of the examination tables are height adjustable allowing patients in wheelchairs to transfer directly from their chair to the table with ease and dignity.

The Ophthalmolgy Department boasts a freestanding eye examination machine, which can be moved or adjusted to a patient’s wheelchair height if transfer to an examination chair is not an option.

It is easily accessible by mass transit, buses and LIRR.
